Happy 0th Birthday SJ!

Today’s “due day”. The day Savannah was due to be born had we gone the traditional route of a good old fashioned 9 month pregnancy rather than Savannah’s chosen route of the 6 month “pregnancy light” option.

So after 3 months of almost daily updates on SJ’s progress, in the spirit of an end of the year highlights show, here’s a quick summary of the story so far:

– slightly sore hand from having kept my wedding ring on during the brief time Roz was in labour but aside from the finger crushing grip I received from Roz, the birth itself went pretty well, all things considered.

– bleeding on the brain cleared up.

– infections fought off.

– chronic lung disease (slowly) improving.

– flu dodged.

– eyes lasered and improving nicely.

– from a teeny weeny 865g, down to an eye watering low of 650g and back up to a whopping 3.2kg on a diet of milk, vitamin supplements and a dash of fortifier.

– 97 days in hospital done and now on the home straight.

– 70 blog posts. 15,760 blog views. Followers in the US, Hong Kong, France, Spain, Singapore, Australia, various countries ending in stan (thanks to SJ’s nomadic cycling fans) and most places inbetween.

– over 700 expresses of milk.

– a battalion knitters.

– a platoon of cuddly toys.

– an army of well wishers.

– a google of gifts, generosity and love.

And all this before SJ was even due to be here!  Not many full term babies can claim to have packed that much in when they pop out!

So to mark her 0th birthday, Savannah has enjoyed some milk (for a change) and Roz and I are off out for dinner and cocktails to celebrate our gorgeous daughter’s arrival.
