A step closer

So just before shift change last night we got the happy news that Savannah was being moved back to special care. Yay!

So back to supplying our own toiletries… Must start thinking of buying nappies and cotton wool in bulk.

SJ is happily settling back into a different bed in the old room.  The pressures was changed and her flow rate decreased to 5.0 yesterday. Her oxygen requirements have been good and averaging around 23-25% but the steriods are still coming out of her system so this might creep up a little.  Plan for today is to keep her in 5.0 and start trying breast feeding again (we had a break over the last week with surgery and recovery).

In bitter sweet news her two original roomies from IC3 are both preparing to bug out. One mum is rooming in (when you stay over night with baby, no monitors and nurses nearby if needed)  and being discharged on Thursday. The other is hoping to be discharged on Monday and is heading home on oxygen.  Bless her Martina, the mum who roomed in was looking very happy but very tired this morning. Must be slightly surreal but totally awesome, that after 3 months together this is the first time night with your child. We can’t wait!

Savannah looks very settled today… So whilst we will be here for a little while yet hopefully it won’t be too long for us either.

  1. She’ll be heading home in no time by the looks of her! Even after only a month in NICU (as Dom was) that first night in a room together is something you never forget. X
