So Savannah had her last dose of steriods on Saturday morning and still seems to be doing well off them so far. Her oxygen requirements have gone up slightly (now hovering around 30-35%) but the consultant said he was thrilled today – and if he’s thrilled then we are thrilled too!

Other than that SJ continues to be very settled and is happily snuggled up and holding dad’s hand (well finger).

With little dramatic news to report on SJ’s status, after over a month at starring at her monitors, we’ve finally learnt what the difference in the wriggly lines on the monitor mean so here’s a quick medical lesson for anyone interested….

The green line is the heart rate and should be between 120 and 200. The white line is the respitory rate, which after two months seems to go anywhere from 15 to 120! The pink line is the saturation rate and the one that had caused us the most worry over these past weeks with amber and red alarms galore. It should be between 88 and 96 but Savannah has dropped to as low as 2 and up to 100!

What we learnt today was when the lines are nice and wriggly it is getting a good reading:

But when the lines flatten out it is a bad reading and potentially gives a false output:

Now ends today’s lesson.
