So today’s installment is brought to by both of us. We get to the hospital and see Savannah. Big relief that she’s had a good night and no dramas to report.  Her weight is going back up and there’s a whopping 725 grams of SJ today.

The big excitement of the day comes at lunchtime when we’re shown how to feed Savannah and are let loose to give her lunch. Not the traditional breast or bottle method but rather a syringe full of milk delivered via a tube into her tummy after first having extracted a bit of her stomach contents and tested it on a ph strip to make sure the line is still going onto her tummy. We both realise that perhaps those GCSE biology lessons had a point after all. It’s great to be able to finally do something for Savannah as up until now all we’ve done is look at her in her little glass tank.

SJ wasn’t the only one well fed at lunchtime today. Everyone’s kindness and support has been amazing and today’s lunch for us consists of a roast lamb sandwich made from the tasty lamb that our neighbour’s Denis and Leigh had cooked and dropped round to us the previous night….so tasty and so kind.

The day ended with a visit from pp…. nope, not the pesky placenta from the other day but Peadiatrian Priya, Roz’s bestest school friend who kindly swung by to say hi to SJ and reassure us about how well she’s doing.  And in a final brucey bonus for the day,  Savannah’s jaundice had cleared up so she’s no longer under a UV light and going to be blue in all her pics.
