Daddy’s off sick

Poor Sam has got a cold, bordering on man flu, which would be bad enough anyway but it means he has to stay away from seeing Savannah to avoid the risk of her getting sick too 😦 So the few days Sam has off work he has been confined to the house and is missing Savannah like crazy.

Over these last few days Savannah has been a little up and down again, going back up to 60% oxygen but luckily has gone back down again and hit 36% today. She is due her first round of immunisations which is likely to see her oxygen requirements go back up as a result. It’s non stop ride at the moment but here’s hoping the overall downward trend continues.

Since being started on Vepotherm SJ has been on 8.0 flow (the amount of pressure she gets) which she will also need to be weaned off / down. The consultant told me they normally start weaning them off once the babies get to a steady 30s on their oxygen but that might be a bit ambitious for SJ so if she is stable in the 40s they may try then. Let’s hope we can start bringing this down too.

Otherwise SJ keeps growing and we have just passed on the first few outfits she had already grown out of onto another mum on the unit!! So here she is filling out nicely.

Her latest echo scan was clear and no further update from the stool sample (assuming that means no virus found) so apart from the pesky chronic lung disease, she has a clean bill of health to see the new year in.Ā  With three babies in the nursery I am sure it will be a wild party.
