Knitters Needed!

First off a little notice for anyone not interested in knitting…….skip this post and hold out for the next instalment!

Right, now that we have the attention solely of the knitting enthusiasts amongst you, we have a BIG teeny request for ikkle SJ! Whilst she’s looking rather fine in all her new threads, has a collection of hats to rival the queen’s and is being kept snug as a bug under her array of beautifully knitted blankets, the one bit of her body she likes to waive around and leave exposed is her hands and these are forever getting a wee bit chilly.  Sooooo…..we’ve scoured the box of preemie clothes in the family room and the box of donor knitwear in the ward reception and come up blank on any sign of teeny mittens to fit her teeny hands. She was given a pair a few weeks back, which she’s since grown out of and it seems that this is the only pair in the hospital.

So here’s the challenge, if anyone is up for it…..we need some teeny mittens for some teeny hands. Below is a link to an allegedly helpful mitten knitting guide which looks like it needs some sort of enigma machine to decode but will hopefully mean something to some of you better educated knitters out there.

There’s also some photos of her original (now too small) mittens and hand as a guide…although at the rate she’s growing, a pair with room to grow into might be wise.

So if anyone has either the time, inclination, skill and/or patients to give it a shot….Savannah would love to model a new pair of teeny mittens this winter!

Happy knitting!

  1. If you’re desperate you can also try socks! Bertie was given socks as mittens in NICU which were put over his canula and then taped on as he was kept dislodging it…pesky boy! Hope you get downgraded and out of ICU soon….xx

  2. Hi Sam and Roz – am very happy to knit some mittens for SJ (and for the ward in general) but can you please tell me whether the pattern requires double knitting wool, 4 ply or 3 ply. Love Val
